Days are getting longer and and as summer is coming to an end we all have to admit that whether we sat on the couch all summer eating chips or literally stayed in Sahel all summer most of us need to find a quick way to be the best possible version of ourselves before school starts. To start of, these minor hacks that unlock doors of high self-esteem please be reminded that you’re amazing and that these tips only make you even more amazing!

Number One:

The key to having a great drama-less life is being an unproblematic person. We all know the sometimes it feels good to get in on the tea and solve the drastic issues but in order to be a neutral person everyone goes to for help, you need to stick out of others’ problems or they’ll be yours. It’s important that you try to get on everyones good side with a bit of a bubbly attitude with a hint of sass. Try avoiding people you don’t like or could have potential beef with in a nice way and you’ll be on the road of success.

Number Two:

Are you tired of thinking that your weight doesn’t do anything but multiply? Gym isn’t working out (no pun intended 😉 and neither are diets? In order to have a stress free life you have to learn to love yourself and always pamper and treat yourself in a non-conceited way. Look at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself that even if 99% of people in the world thought you were ugly, then roughly 70 million people think you’re drop dead gorgeous and that it’s impossible for 99% of the world to hate you! Remind yourself that weight and fat is a cover or blanket over a wonderful personality I’m sure so many people would kill for. So now you know that attitude is a about 75% of your Glo-up.

Number Three:

Try using and finding hacks to make your skin and body GLOW! If you head on over to Malak Negm’s article called 10 THINGS THAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR KITCHEN THAT WOULD HELP YOU HAVE HEALTHIER AND BETTER SKIN You’ll find many hacks to healthier skin using things you for sure have in your kitchen! Somethings that may help are: following a solid skincare routine, finding a face wash that suits your skin well and using it daily as well as using natural scrubs and facials. Even if your face doesn’t clear up fast, don’t get upset. I repeat, DO NOT GET UPSET. These are hormonal changes and are completely natural and should definitely not define you or control your mood, trust me, this is coming from someone who hasn’t had a clear face since the seventh grade and I’m in the tenth!

Number Four:

If you’re still concerned about your weight or health, instead of going to the gym in a lazy and annoyed mood find something fun to do that helps lose weight. Personally I find a very fun thing that burns calories fast is dancing! Putting on your favorite song and dancing it to it until you reach your limit on anghami is such a fun way to exercise without feeling torture. If you’ve got siblings maybe you can take out your bike and race them up and down a hill while making jokes, research conducted by me proves that it’s a fun way to spend time once you get in the habit of it while also helping you bond with siblings.

Number Five:

ALWAYS HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE! If you’re flunking classes or having issues with people then you should know that this is ordinary. You’re normal, love yourself and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Top 5 Things that can Reduce Stress

Hey Guys! All of us get stressed quite quickly these days, and that is way I am bringing you the top 5 things to do to relieve stress. These things helped me greatly and will hopefully help you too. 

We get stressed from the simplest things, and that should stop right now! So let’s start this list:

1 ) Always think of the positive side of anything

If any problem comes your way the first thing you must do is think of the positive side to it. Let’s say for example when you enter school you get bad grades in the first term. It will make you so mad, sad and stressed. You will be stressed that you won’t be able to go to a good university. Everyone will think your dumb. Your parents will be mad at you. All these negative thoughts can stress you even more, and you can start making it a big problem which it is not. So, just think of the positive side to it. That you still have two more terms to improve your grades, and say to yourself that you will work harder and get better grades eventually.

2 ) Listen to Music

This helps so much. Anytime you feel stressed just open your phone and listen to happy upbeat music. It is know that listening to calm music has a positive effect on the brain and body. Just check some albums on your music apps that contain positive music and listen to them. 

3 ) Talk about it with a family member or friend

When you get stressed, and you keep quite it really doesn’t help. If you keep shutting it off inside you it will grow even more. Don’t do that! Just go to someone you trust and who can help you, and start talking about why your stressed to them. It helps loads; trust me!

4 ) LAUGH!

Laughing always helps. When you come to approach any problem if you keep thinking of it, and think how it ruins your life you’re gone. As laughter releases something called endorphins that improve your mood and decreases stress hormones in your body. I suggest you watch some Mr Bean or some Mohamed Tarek videos on YouTube. They are sure to make you laugh.

5 ) Don’t stress eat instead drink some tea

Many people I am sure stress eat, and it is in your disadvantage. It will make you gain some kilos, and you won’t like that. Instead of stress eating you can drink some healthy good tea that reduces stress and anxiety. Here are some examples: 

  1. Green Tea
  2. Peppermint Tea
  3. Chamomile Tea
  4. Lemon Balm Tea

So, these are the top 5 things that can reduce and relieve stress. They will help you trust me. Just do these things anytime you get stressed. Finally, don’t make any small thing stress you out.

Bullying: what it is and it’s effects

You never look good trying to make someone else look bad. Bullying in schools are being spread and it should be stopped in anyway. We should all shout out saying no to bullying. Remember what goes around comes back around.

First, do you know what is a bully or bullying?. Simply bullying is seek to harm. There are 4 types of bullying.

Physical bullying. Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking, tripping, pinching and pushing or damaging property.

Verbal bullying. Verbal bullying includes name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks, or verbal abuse.

Social bullying. Social bullying is always social media in general.

Cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is actually through the internet and websites.

These types of bullying are harmful for all of us, not the one who is bullied or the one who bullies only.

So now here are some things we should do and shoutout for it to stop bullying in schools and everywhere:

 

1: Stand up for people who are bullied.

Never leave them alone and help them, stand up for them.

2: Take action.

Don’t stop and stare, do something, move and give them a hand and help.

 

3: Talk to other kids.

Talk to this kid who is always bullying his friends and let him know that what he is doing is nothing. His words and bullying won’t let him be strong or even a gentleman. Also he should be sure to taste his words before he spits them out.

4:Talk to teachers and guardians.

If you’re bullied, you should tell anyone to help you, your teachers or your guardians. They should know that you’re suffering from this and they will help you stop it.

Bullying affects us badly, it affects the one who is bullied and the one who bullied and here is how it affects the kid who is bullied and the kid who bullies.

(1) Kids who are bullied.

The kids who are bullied can experience:

1) Negative physical mental issues. The bullied kids face depression and anxiety.

2) They can experience increased feelings of sadness and loneliness.

3) Face changes in sleep and eating patterns and loss of interest in activities they used to enjoy.

4) They experience health complaints and decreased academic achievement. They’re more likely to miss or drop out of school.

(2) Kids who bully others.

 

1) The kids will be abusive toward their children as adults.

2) They will get into fights, and vandalize property.

3) They will drop out of school and have criminal convictions.

In conclusion be true, kind, honest and helpful, don’t neglect your feelings and votes, shout and say no for bullying it must be stopped anyways so all the kids live safe.

What’s Got Us All Heartbroken Over Miley Cyrus’ and Liam Hemsworth’s Divorce

Ever since the two starred together as our dream couple during  the movie ‘The Last Song’, we’ve shipped them ever since! With less than a year of marriage, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have reportedly taken a break but not yet ‘divorced’. Here’s all you need to know about the split:

Just at the beginning of August a friend couple of theirs ‘Brody Jenner’ and ‘Kaitlynn Carter’ had divorced. Just a few weeks later, photos of Miley and Kaitlynn showing signs of intimacy were leaked while on a boat trip in Lake Como, Italy with Miley’s older sister Brandi.

According to media sites and channels Liam is “devastated” and will be staying in Australia for a while surrounded by family members and leaning on his brother Chris’ shoulder for support.

10 Things that you have in your Kitchen that would help you have Healthier and Better Skin

I’ve always had this obsession of taking care of my skin, and why wouldn’t I have this obsession? like it’s not weird, I guess? It’s the largest part of the body, and yes it needs constant care.

And the fact is, no one really knows how certain chemicals affect us over time, or how they react in our bodies in combination.

And the first thing to healthy skin is drinking lots of water and eating veggies and fruits to keep skin nourished and moisturized. And guess what? You do not have to buy these very expensive skin care products (masks, creams, moisturizers…). We’re all tired of these unaffordable skin care products, aren’t we? so I brought to you these 10 things that you have in your kitchen that would help you have healthier and better skin, so you don’t fall for exotic skin products’ trends.

 

1. Lemons

Lemons contain vitamin C and acetic acid that brighten the skin. They are antibacterial unlike the soap we use on our face everyday. That’s why lemon slices can control blackheads and brighten the skin.

2. Eggs

Eggs and yoghurt face mask is a must! All you have to do is take 2 eggs and add 1 tsp of yogurt and wait until it’s dry (approx. 20-25 mins) and then wash off for a glowing complexion!

3. Carrot juice

Contains vitamin C. If you have skin problems, drinking carrot juice helps skin to recover faster from external wounds and trauma.

 

4. Milk

Contains Vitamin A. Milk with a tbs or two of honey + lemon juice + baking soda refreshes the skin and smoothes it when applied for 15 minutes, cause who does not want smooth skin?

 

5. Honey

Contains Vitamins and amino acids and it’s antibacterial too, and that’s why honey masks moisturize dry skin parts and help you have better nourished skin.

6. Butter and rose water face mask

This face mask is extremely good for keeping your skin healthy and helps in removal of dead skin cells. You will only require 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of rosewater. Mix the two ingredients well until a thick paste is attained. Apply it on your face for about 30 minutes.

7. Olive oil

Applying olive oil to the skin can prevent signs of photo-aging and sun damage. Also you can use it as an alternative to tanning oil in summer!

8. Yogurt

I’ve personally tried yogurt masks and they’re super effective, they reduce acne and fight dark skin circles.

 

9. Vinegar

Contains acetic acid so it can simply unblock plugged skin pores and smoothes the skin.

10. Sugar

 

Sugar scrubs smoothes the skin and refreshes it. The recipe is: 1/2 tablespoon of honey + 1 tbs of lemon juice + 1 tbs of sugar. Scrub it all over your face for 3 mins.

Hap-pi-ness : a three syllable word meaning a state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to joy . 

Of course this is what you’ll find in a dictionary when trying to search for the meaning of happiness , but what is the true meaning of happiness , the meaning that is felt and not read about in a dictionary .

Happiness can be caused by the simplest of things , reading a good book , talking to a friend , going to new places , practicing a sport , pursuing your dream job or your studies , it really depends on the person and their interests . All simple things that make us happy . But of course as society always does , it has made standards for happiness , do this and you’ll be miserable , do that and you’ll live a happy life. And of course in Arab societies the bar has been raised and let me tell you it is up to ferdaus my friend . For example being born Arab you have a wide range of career choices you can make such as med school , pharmacy , engineering and disgrace to the family , of course not all parents are like this , but there are so many who pressure their kids to do so and it gives the kids the feeling that their parents would love them more if they did. 

And it doesn’t stop at career choice , as soon as your done with one thing to make people happy you’re given another so called beacon to happiness . I believe we spend so much time trying to please people who think they know what’s in our best interest that we forget what actually makes us happy . 

Oh you just got graduated from college , well you’ll never be happy if you don’t get married and have a ton of kids . Always showered with 3o2bal fara7ak/ek after every single family gathering and 3ayzeen nefra7 beeko, like you can be far7aneen beya when I’m getting my masters degree too right? Or when I’m pursuing something I actually like instead of just shaming me for wanting to study graphic design instead of spending 7 miserable years pretending to be happy in med school just because you , someone who I see twice a year and doesn’t even remember my name each time we meet suddenly wants to care about my future ? Don’t we all have this person in our family who is just trying to pretend to “care” or just keeps making us feel like we’re not good enough ? And many of us give in to these stupid urges that other people have for controlling our lives , they even make us fear not listening to them , telling that auntie about your ambition to study in the university of fine arts and getting told “ el beyt5rag men fnoon gamila maloosh sho8l we msh hatla2y sho8l “ and her story about some girl named Salwa who graduated from fine arts , got divorced , disowned and is now selling tissues on the streets , tab ma el byt5arag men fnoon gamila beyshta8al aho ya tante ! 

And some of you might be saying like” oh my god that doesn’t happen , stop being so dramatic“ , but actually some people don’t know where their happiness is and social media isn’t even helping our current state , it makes us lose the feeling of contentment , you know the one we mentioned above, and they try to fill this void by making others happy and taking in so much pain because they think that it’s supposed to make them happy , I mean why do you think people stay in abusive relationships or toxic friendships , they fill a void by making themselves think their happy and that it’s okay , they’re just worried about me or they were just kidding or I mean I did piss them off so I guess I deserved that , but they love me , right ? Or maybe it’s just trying something new that a friend suggested you try to feel better but you just end up hooked on it , but you won’t stop or to put it accurately you can’t stop . All of the things I just listed are ways people cope with , and not a few but many people , they destroy themselves and partake in this self harm all for one thing, The Pursuit Of Happiness.

و مع قلة المذاكرة و الامتحانات الي بحلھا بصباع رجلي الصغیر و كمان ایه انا قفلت

امتحان الشھر الاول !!! بدأت أفكر ھي جامعة ھارفاد ھتسكني فین لما اخد المنحة ، ده كان قبل متخبط اول قفا في ثانویة عامة و ھو امتحان الشھر التاني ،الصراحة فوقني من الخیال الي كنت فیه و كأن ثانویة عامة بتقولي ” على تجارة یا كلب “.

و ھو في الحقیقة الشھر الاول و التاني بيبقى عسل لأنك لسة مدوستش في المنھج اوي ، یعني لسة متحفلش علیك من عیال محمد علي مثلا . الواحد في اول شھرین بیبقى بیشوف ھیكمل مع مین العشر شھور الي جایین مین ھتبقى شلته في الدروس ، و دیه صداقة مبنیة على نطاق جغرافي بحت یعني لو انت ابعد من بیتي اكتر من ٢ كیلو مش عایز أعرفك على بلاطة كدة. و مع ظھور نتیجة الشھر التالت اكتشفت اني جایب ٨٠/٢١ قولت یا رب جامعة الوادي الجديد تقبل بیا!!!

نتكلم بجد بقا الصراحة انا قلقت جدا لما لقیت نفسي ساقط في الامتحان رغم اني ذاكرت و حلیت الامتحان كله ، انت كواحد في الحالة الي انا كنت فیھا اغبى حاجة تعملھا انك تكلم المدرس لأنك ھتعرف معني ” ھیدیك من المنقي خیار” و ده الي انا عملتوا و الحمد لله ھزقني، بس الصراحة انا بجح قلتلة انت مدرس ملط و سیبتة، سیبتة بس مش عشان انا بجح او عیل متدلع انا لقیت المجموعة كلھا اعلى واحد جایب ٨٠/٣٠ و دیه كانت من اكتر الحاجات الصح الي عملتھا في ْثَانویة عامة.

نصیحة اخویة لما تلاقي نفسك بتغرق مع مدرس اعترف انك بتغرق و شوفلك مركبة تانیة . وسط كل ھذة المآسویات الوحید الي كان بیطبطب علیا ھو EGY BEST، الحنین ،الي بیحتویني ،ابو قلب كبیر . انا ھقولكوا الحقیقة إنا نتایج الامتحانات من بدایة الشھر التالت كانت عبارة عن فریزر ،لا و بكسر الرقم القیاسي معادا في الفلسفة و علم النفس ،الصراحة المادة دیه كنت بحبھا و عموما ھنتكلم علیھا قدام في الجزء ده .

دلوقتي فات ٤ شھور و الصراحة الدنیا مش كابوس ، أینعم ان فیه مشاكل شخصیة بس ده بسبب اني جاموسة و لكن الدنیا ماشیة .

درس الفلسفة و علم النفس عرفتني باكتر إنسان مزعج قابلتوا في ثانویة عامة ، الحائز على جائزة اعلى و اوسخ صوت في المجرة و الكون ، و مش انا الوحید الي شایف كدة ، نرمین صاحبة البیت الي كنّا بناخد عندھا الدرس الي مش ھحكیلكوا على قد ایه ھي طیبة و جدعة و كنّا مسمیین بعض رفقاء ثانویة عامة!!! احنا كنّا فین ؟؟

آه الوأد المقزز بصوا انا مش ھفضحوا ھو اول حرف من إسمه احمد

اما الجزء الأخیر من الفصل التاني من ثانویة عامة ، ھو الجزء الاصعب لقلبي ، ما حدث ھو ان تقریبا الاتحاد الانجلیزي لكرة القدم مع الاتحاد الأسباني للكرة و الحج عامر حسین قعدوا مع المدرسین بتوعي و اتفقوا على ان كل الماتشات تبقى مع مواعید الدروس ، انا كنت متقبّل الصراحة و عایش مع الحوار ده لحد ما جت القشة التي فشخت ظھر البعیر و هي الكلاسیكو !!! ، ھذا الیوم الذي یتجمع فیه جمیع الناس و انا قاعد بسمع حكایة مستر بطوط مع البنت الي جابت ١٠٠ في ١٠٠ !!!

یعني ایه یا استاذ بطوط ادخل جري البیت اكتشف ان الحكم بیصفر !!

و في نھایة الجزء التاني معندیش غیر حاجتین الاول تعمولو فولو لینا عشان تبقوا معانا لما ننزل الجزء الجدید و التانیة السلام علیكم

Sadat: Decisions he made that still have an impact on us today.

“There’s no happiness for people at the expense of other people” 

These words were said by the third President of Egypt El Sadat serving from 1970 until 1981. Sadat was a member of the Free Officers who overthrew King Farouk in the military coup of 1952 with AbdelNasser, Mohamed Naguib and other military officers. In his eleven years as president, his decisions changed Egypt, departing from many of the political and economic tenets of Nasserism.

And here are some decisions that still have an impact on us now:

Decision (1) : The War

We all heard our grandparents’ stories about war and how our soldiers stood brave against Israeli soldiers. In 1973, Sadat made one of the most dangerous decisions he has ever made, the war against Israel, which he had been preparing for since the first day of his reign in October 1970, determined to reclaim the Sinai Peninsula from the grip of Israel, which Israel conquered after the defeat of the war. With a strategic plan for strategic deception, our soldiers were able to defeat Israel in the October 1973 war, but only managed to reclaim 3000 km square from Sinai. 

Decision (2) : Camp David

Although This treaty stirred controversy. We cannot deny that it stopped the war that has been active since 1948, but has it been in our benefit? The treaty stated  that Israel retreats it’s troops and civilians from Sinai and Egypt, and to leave Sinai a demilitarized zone. ElSadat also agreed to recognize Tiran strait and Akaba bay as international trade passages. Technically, after these agreements Egypt was the first arab country to recognize Israel as a country. Which was a great disappointment to Palestinians. This agreement gave Israel the right to interfere with Egyptian issues till this present day. If we say that the treaty’s significance was to take time to regain our forces, train and develop much more, then it would have been perfect. But unfortunately this didn’t happen and instead we got into an infringement. Right now, we are just vulnerable.

Decision (3) : Its what Egyptians call “الانفتاح الاقتصادي”

Such decision was encouraged in order to increase investment, but it did not allow the increase of exports. Industry represented 44% during the era of Nasser and in Sadat era it represented 24% because of the state’s reliance on the petroleum sector and benefiting from the Suez Canal. This made huge gaps between egyptians (طبقيه). And it’s when citizens began to travel to gulf states like (Kuwait and Qatar). Egyptians now a days call such decision  “سداح مداح”.

Decision (4) : Releasing “Muslim Brotherhood”

“فتح لهم أبواب الحياة من جديد..عارضوه وقتلوه” 

After Abdelnasser imprisoned them to rule the country alone, El Sadat released many detainees and prisoners from the “Muslim Brotherhood”. He let them practice their political life freely and safely. However, the conflicts between President Sadat and Muslim Brothers quickly returned after their objection on the Camp David treaty. And after 11 years of ruling Egypt the late president got assassinated on 1981 by Khalid Ahmed Al-Islambouli one of the army officers of “الجماعه الاسلاميه”

We believe that this war has been won because of the bravery of our soldiers. Camp David though, may have brought us back our lands. But on the long range, it has caused many damages and disappointments. It could have been used better and partially it is our faults too. The economic openness was an important decision but it needed a lot of research. And that was the thing about AlSadat, he was a bit hasty in his decisions. We can’t also deny that all over these years, many have suffered hardships and horrible living conditions. As for the release of the Muslim Brotherhood, it was the right decision to make at that time because they are civilians.

The leadership has murdered Alsadat because he signed the Peace treaty with the Zionists. This decision may have not pleased everyone. But violence is never the answer. And what they have done, has caused many pain, to the ones who followed them and to others. We will not deny that up to this day. Many muslim brotherhood members do not support this accident. The least we can do after these events is to learn from our mistakes and NOT repeat them. The least we can do is try to make up for these mistakes. The least thing to do is not to wait all these years to acknowledge the wrong that’s happening.

EID: What happens and what people should stop doing.

Hello guys! Happy eid and I do wish you’re having fun in your eid’s vacation with your family. This article will be talking about the encounters we have in eid, and things that people should stop doing on Eid’s day!

The big day, first day of eid, on this day all we do is go to eid’s prayer then we slaughter the calf and distribute the calf’s meat. Now our family gathering begins.

We go to our grandparents house to spend the rest of the day there. We feel happy that day, yes we feel happy sitting besides our family and our loved ones celebrating eid together wow that’s the best feeling ever. At the house we don’t meet our grandparents only we meet our uncle, aunt, cousins and some kids just coming to cry and run around us. Now it’s time to greet them.

 

1) Greeting the nice grandma ever with love.

Grandma: Hello love, I’ve missed you.

Me hugging her: Hello grandma, I missed you too, happy eid grandma.

2) Time to greet the kindest grandpa ever.

Greeting my beloved grandparents it’s the favorite part of the day.

Me: Hello grandpa, happy eid.

Grandpa tapping with his hands on my back: Hello beautiful, happy eid, give me a kiss little girl.

Me: Here you go grandpa. Mwah

Now time to greet the rest of the family, as if we are in the school waiting line. Greeting all the people with hi and happy eid.

Greeting our uncle who always brings joy and happiness when he comes.

Uncle: Happy eid little girl, I’ve missed you so much

Me: I missed you too uncle.

Now greeting our funny and adorable cousins whom we just see in these special days like eid’s, Ramadan and birthday’s.

Me: Omg, I missed you so much, I really wanted to see you, we need to talk as soon as possible.

Cousins: We missed you too, yes we need to talk.

We greeted everyone now it’s time to greet our aunt, but our aunt has her special greeting which is just with this weird talk “msh hatkhsy ba2a”, “msh hattkhany shawya”, or when you’re older than a teenager “msh hanshofekk 3arosa ba2a w nefrah beky”.

Ugh! I hope greeting everyone was with hi and how are you only without these questions that aunt asks me every time she sees me or just like how I greet my cousins and uncle.

It’s time to eat now. Okay so we can be clear if you aren’t a fatah eater the whole family will just say this thing” deh el fatah deh gamela ya 3abyta Fe had maykolsh el fatah” . I always suffer from this because I don’t eat fatah and please don’t force me to, like that I won’t even taste man. Please leave me alone I will eat what I want.

The day is coming to an end and it’s now time to go home. Greeting everyone with bye guys, it was a good day and happy eid. Although I don’t wanna move a single step as I want to talk more with my beloved cousins but we should go. I know eid is good when we meet our family and we are all gathered but there’s many things we should stop on eid’s day.

Stop shaming the vegetarian people:

They’re not eating meat or chicken, so stop asking and forcing them to. They have their own life and they’re happy like that.

Stop asking weird questions:

Stop asking the girls in your family why they’re that thin or they should lose weight, it’s their own life, she knows that you need to advice her to live healthier but of course she is tired of these words that she should lose weight.

Stop being a tough person:

 

Don’t be tough with your words or even force someone to eat something or do something they don’t like. Stop forcing your teenage child to play with kids he doesn’t like, stop forcing them to act as they’re grownups and they’re still kids. Just stop doing this. It’s eid we should all celebrate and be happy and have fun.

The rest of the days are similar in the type of food and traditions but they are different in the taste and the smell of happiness and joy flying all over the family. Happy eid guys, enjoy your eid days and stay away from any of your aunts questions!
